  • How to turn off payroll

    I'm using an old version of QB Pro (2014), and I just re-installed it on a new computer. It's all updated, seems to run fine. Except... I can't turn off the payroll function. Every time I open the program, I get a message telling me that the payroll tax table is out of date. I go to Payroll & Employee Preferences, Company Preferences, click No payroll, it says it needs to close all the open windows to make the change. When I re-open the company file, I get the same error message and Payroll is still turned on in the Preferences. I had it turned off on the previous computers I used, so obviously there is a way to make it work, but I can't find it. Thanks for any help!

    I don't have your version, but using the 2018 version of QuickBooks Premier as an example. Perhaps your version is similar.

    From the top menu bar, select Edit, then Preferences.
    Select Payroll and Employees
    Select Company Preferences, then No Payroll
