  • build assembly, quantity needed column

    2016 Premier M@W
Something that has had me mystified and frustrated for at least the last several versions.
In the build assemblies window my Qty needed column always shows zero.
Makes no sense to me as the inv. ass. build window has qty listed for each part.

What am I missing or has this never worked?

    Thanks for the help.

    Nobody?

Must I conclude this either does not work for everyone or nobody uses this feature?

the qty needed column should fill in after you enter how many you want to build

        Mine shows zip.
Enter 1, it asks to make it pending.
        Make it pending
Still shows zip in the qty needed column.
The ONLY way I can see that column populated is to:
Make it pending, then look at a pending report.

Having to jump through hoops makes no sense.
That column should be populated on the build screen to at the beginning.
That's why I keep thinking I have something set up wrong.

        Thanks

I don't have 2016 loaded up anymore, but i do not recall any issues with it in this area
My 2019 works as it should

enter one or some number in the qty to build box
          hit the tab key
          qty needed fills in

the tab key is needed to tell the software that you entered something in the box

if you can not build then a component in the BOM does not have sufficient qty on hand

I guess I have not been clear on my issue.

That works fine if there are plenty of every part in the list on hand and it says X assemblies can be built.

When it shows no assemblies can be built.
What gets me aggravated is a case where, let's say there are 3 of something in a long list is on hand but the build can't be completed because it doesn't tell me that I really need 4. There is no way to scan down the list to see which part is low on product.

So, then I go jumping through hoops to find out how which part is short.
It just seems to me like those numbers should be populated so I can easily see why I can't build the assembly.

In your 2019 if you have an assembly that you know is short on parts and the assembly can't be built, see if that column will populate without going pending.
If so I will pony up for the newest version.

            Thanks for your input.

ahhh, ok I see what you are talking about.

No that has not changed, try to build more of an assembly than you have component parts and the best it gets is to tell you how many you can build.

                Thanks for the trouble Rustler.
I could put this in as a suggestion but I have never seen evidence that the mother ship acts on such things.
