    Howdy, folks.

I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that the www.exportmybooks.com site works great. For some accounts and items, it creates a 'Global Clearing' account to match up and migrate some differences between the online version and the desktop version, but I can tell you that everything has come over.

Yes, I did have some misgivings about granting permissions for an unknown 3rd party to access my information, but when you reach the point of desperation, sometimes you have to take a leap.

Anyway, I wanted to report that I've successfully migrated and ended Intuit's extortionary tactics.

Thanks for all the great advice given in this forum!

Login to your client's QuickBooks Online account.
    Go to the Gear Icon.
    Choose Export Data.
Enter your reason why you're exporting your client's data.
    Click Continue.
Under Moving to QuickBooks Desktop?, select Learn more.
Under Download company data, choose Learn more.

The issue is that there is no way to get the transaction out of QBO other than the export
which as I said is flawed

installing IE is no big deal, and QBDT only uses IE when it connects to the net

The utility intuit provides to move from QBO to QBDT is flawed, not everything transfers, see this

If it is a start up, start the company file in desktop and not QBO
Just returning to this now that we're into the New Year. I purchased QBDT Premiere, and want to import data, but I don't feel like installing Internet Exploder. Is there any way to use an Excel export to do the same thing, or is that not going to work as well?

    Migrate from QBOnline to Desktop

    Howdy, folks.

I've been a QB Online user for two years managing a small business. I now have a new startup of my own, and a second client which will require three separate accounting files, which drives the price of the online version to $75/month, an outrageous amount considering the desktop version is only $500 once.

However, it's been many years since I've used the desktop version, so I need to ask for your help to confirm a few things.
    • Does QB Desktop Premiere still download banking transactions (checking, cards, etc.) so that I can match transactions?
    • Does the software still support individual, discrete files so that I can separate all three businesses and manage them separately?
    • Does this version (QBDP) support 'manufacturing inventory' in the regard that I can track individual component inventory used in the assembly of a final finished product?
    • For those of us using WooCommerce and other e-commerce platforms (Amazon, Shopify), what plugin would you recommend to move order data from the site to QB?

Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks in advance!
