Shipping data field on Sales Receipt??

Hello. Using 2004 Pro. Total newbie here! I can't figure out how to add a data field on my sales receipts for adding shipping charges. Would have to be after subtotal and before taxes. I did a search to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I think what you are looking for .... you need to set-up an Item for shipping charges; then use that on the Invoice to charge for shipping.

Hope this helps,
Rox :-)

Thanks, I am not using an invoice, but a sales receipt. When I sell a product, I need to have the shipping charges show on the sales receipt and included in the total, along with tax and subtotal. Maybe I am just too new at this to understand, but your help would be appreciated. I have a manual, but it is not clear on this issue. My inventory is over 1000 pcs and climbing. Before I take the time to enter all, I need to resolve this issue
Thanks

Items work on Sales Receipts as well as on Invoices, so the advice from qbsrox is correct. Items tell QuickBooks what account is affected by a sale or shipping charge. You'll want to set up an item called "Shipping Charges." On the sales receipt, you'd enter the parts sold, then on the next line enter the item "Shipping Charges."

Perhaps you want "Shipping Charges" to calculate automatically and appear in the same place as "Tax" on the sales receipt, but I don't know how to make that happen in QuickBooks. My clients who use shipping charges enter them as described in the first paragraph.

Hope this helps.

tax, I want my sales receipts to look like this: (amts. are just examples)

item qty 1 price 3.00
item qty 1 price 4.00
item qty 1 price 5.00
etc....

Tax 1.00
subtotal 13.00
shipping 5.00
total 18.00

I would add appropriate shipping charges when generating the receipt. I just don't see any way to add a shipping data field to the sales receipt. It seems from your description, that I would need to add a shipping amt for each part as opposed to one total shipping amt for the entire order. I do not need to invoice as all items are paid in advance of shipping.
Thanks

Ok, I tried it your way and added another item field for shipping charges. Works except for one little detail, tax is being calculated on total of item price and shipping charges. Thats not correct in my case. Should only tax the product and not the shipping???
Thanks

Use the Subtotal .... it works as a 'page break' and will calculate whatever is above it. Also, make sure your Shipping Item is set to be non-taxed.
