Angry Balance in chart of accounts

When I list chart of accounts using the list option, not every account shows balance. Only the bank, current asset, current liability, a/r, a/p shows a balance. All the other accounts show nothing, not even 0.00. What could be the problems?

Only balance sheet accounts show a balance on the chart of accounts listing because they don't close (unlike income statement account).

To see the balance on Income or Expense accounts do a Quickreport for that account.

I can presume..
I believe that tranactions must occur before any amounts is shown, even if all entries are ballanced out to a zero, it will then display a zero.
