Accounting for vat before registration

I believe i can account for vat for the last 6 months worth of services. How do i go about this using quickbooks. I have 4 services that vat can be reclaimed, each service appears in a register once a month. I have only recently turned my vat on in quickbooks. What is the correct way to account for this.

Hi dave
A few more questions because its not only VAT you account for!
Can you say what the four services are please.
Is your business a Ltd company or are you a sole proprietor?

OK, as i understand it i can claim the vat back on services such as adt alarm/ monthly equipment hire, ie streamline machine rentals, + telephone bills.
They are after all services.
If they are only a few pence i WILL claim them all!

Hi Dave
Can you tell me:-
a) the date your were registered for VAT from.
b) your year end
c) whether you originally entered the invoices for these services in QB not claiming the VAT

Seems to be a bit more indepth than i first thought, with these questions! Looking forward to your reply.

a) Registered for VAT from 1 Nov.
b) My year end is 31 March
c) I did not account in any way for vat before this date. On the 1 Nov I turn this feature of quickbooks on.

Thanks in advance
Dave.
