QB 2003 and new computer

Not a computer guru and have to move my old version of QB onto a new computer, and then load QB 2003. (Cant load 2003 on old computer becasue I still run windows 95 on it). I dont have a clue how to move the data, any tips or suggestions?

Backup or copy your data file to either floppies, a CDR, ZIP disk external harddrive. Then restore/copy onto the new computer. Make sure you are up and running on the new computer before you get rid of the old one, if you are.

Moving from old to new computer sounds easy enough. I will try disc, I have a zip drive in old computer, but not in the new one....

Another question...
Is there a simple rule of thumb for knowing what files can be deleted. When I open QBooks in explorer I see so many folders...many of which were probably created by me doing updates etc.. for ex files with an exe. extension. I do not want to move old stuff that I dont need, but I have no idea what is not needed? Are there certain extensions that are temp or garbage??

You just need to move the data file. Simply go into qb on the old computer, choose file & then backup. If backing up to floppy that normally would be the A: drive. Then when done, take the disks to the new computer (am assuming you have qb 2003 installed on it already). Then go into qb, select file & restore, choose the a: drive. It will then restore it and prompt you to update the data since it's from an older version. Do so (Note: as soon as you update the data you cannot go back to the previous version on the new computer). And you should be good to go from that point on the new system.
