Looking for a good ERP/MRP/MPS

Hi,
Our company is a small/med sized manufacturer and wholesaler. I'm looking for a bolt on or other system to QuickBooks that will give us a robust ERP/MRP functionality which also has MPS and Forecasting. I've seen quite a few of the products in Intuit's site but the reviews have been less than stellar. The reviews show a common theme of the interface with QuickBooks to be extremely difficult to set up or the combination of the two products makes both unstable. Some of our products are made in house with purchased parts while others are made by CM's with some supplied parts from us. Planning long term purchases is very difficult without a reliable MRP and scheduling production on site has been a tremendous amount of starts and stops due to material shortages. The common answer of just adding inventory levels is wasteful. Please let me know if you know of a system that does not take a fortune in Consultant time to set up and keep running.

Hi Blue Karl,

I recommend that you look at ADempiere. It is an Open Source ERP that is pretty capable for manufacturing and distribution. I have used it for 9 years in five different environments (wholesale and shop floor). You will like the options for short-term and long-term material planning.

Because it is an ERP system, it includes accounting, inventory management, order management, etc...

Because it is open source, the application is free to download, play with and place in production. I can help you learn, configure and audit to make sure it works for you.

MISys has a QuickBooks version, and includes MRP and MPS - I was a Sage/Accpac consultant and MISys is a fantastic, sophisticated product.
