Question "slightly damaged file"

I can't open a company. The message comes on and says my file is slightly damaged. Run scandisk and try again. If the message reappears try and open the file and QB will rebuild file. I tried this and When I tried to open the company, I got a fatal error message. V6.OD R4[M=1352,L=968,C=88,V=30 [FFFFFFE2]].
What can I do? My other company file works great. I do not have $450.00 to paqy to have this fixed. Business is bad!! Thanks for your replies, Keith

Open a company file which is healthy.

Now go to File - Restore - select the last backup for your sick company file, and restore it to a new filename. (If this all doesn't work, you would want to be able to send your most recent file for repair, so don't overwrite it.)

If you can now open the file, run verify, rebuild if necessary, check that the Trial Balance does balance. If you cannot open the file, try the backup before last.

Boring, but then you'll have to re-enter stuff since the backup.

It is like saying that "she is slightly pregnant" when a computer gives you that message.
