Hi,
before I got here, the Company utilized two QB files - one in Texas and one in Oklahoma. The one in Texas is the primary QB file and the one in Oklahoma is where payroll is paid (QB payroll) and payables are entered. The information is sent to Dallas and they make a JE to record these items and pay the payables. We want to get rid of two files and only have one file and preferably that this file be set up on QuickBooks online with only one file. Issue is that the merge (Data transfer) will result in the detailed information from Oklahoma (payroll, AP) being recorded in the Dallas file and it is also in the Dallas file per previous JE's. I am not sure what to do - would it be better to just take say an end of month Dallas file that has all of the information including JE's, stop the Oklahoma file and use a ending balance transfer to start a new file and convert it to QB online? This would leave all the detailed information in the previous QB files but we would not be able to run historical reports from the new file. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

Since the TX file is the "master" file and has the full accounting (even with out specific details), I'd just convert that to online. I'm sure payroll transactions to go up as payroll transactions anyway - I know when you go from online TO desktop, the payroll transactions just come in as regular checks.
