Question Can I open Basic 04 in Pro 09?

A co-worker is trying to send me a customer mailing list (as an excel file) from her QB Basic 2004 edition, but it does not have the export function. If she sends me her file, can I open her 04 Basic in my Pro 09 as a new company and then export the info to excel? Or will the export function still not be there? (I can export in Pro 09)

Your Pro 09 will go through the file conversion routine to upgrade the company file to 09 format, then you can do whatever your version of QB normally allows.

But does the Basic 2004 not have an export to iif under file - export or csv file from the report? I never had the basic version.

Id QB 2004, they need to go to File then Utilities then Export and choose Customer List. This will create a TAB delimited file. They have to give it a name like "Customer-list.iif" and save it is a location like the desktop or My Documents so they can send that file to you. You can then use Excel to open the file
