COGS vs 1099 preference

Prior to upgrading from 2006 to Pro 2009 I had hauling of our product as an expense b/c 2006 did not handle COGS properly. Supposedly 2009 now puts COGS in the proper place on the P/L. When I try to change "hauling" to a COGS account I get an error telling me that prior to chanigng the account type, I must delete the preference which indicates that "hauling" requires a 1099. The hauling is done by subcontractors that do get 1099's and their charges are directly related to our COGS. What can I do to resolve this?

My only thought is to delete the 1099 association until I need to print 1099's next January. Switch and switch back. Any other suggestion?

This is somthing Intuit needs to correct. Is there away to point out this problem?

solved my own problem. I had to delete the 1099 preference, change the account and then go back to preferences and add the 1099 preference back in. Seems unneccessary but none the less, that's what QB made me do.
