To close our books for the year, we need to get a monthly sales tax report from invoices. A lady came in but was only able to show us how to modify so that we got the cust name, date, invoice # and sales. We have to go back to each invoice to see the tax amount, then go back to excel and type it in one invoice at a time. We then need it broken out for state & county taxes. If anyone can help speed this up, thanks so much.

You can create a report to see your sales tax liability. Go to Reports>Vendors & Payables>Sales Tax Revenue Summary and enter the dates you want. You will see each sales tax collected by totals. There is also a Sales Tax Liability Report. Go to Reports>Vendors & Payables>Sales Tax Liability. You can also go to the Sales Tax Payable account in your chart of accounts and do a Quick Report. Enter the dates you want to see.

You can also use the Sales by item detail report. On the Details tab, check "Source name" in the "Columns to display" and filter it for Items=All Sales Tax. This will give a listing of all sales tax items, the invoice number, their amount, who the invoice was for.
