Print/E-file Form window - (W2 Forms)

The help file for this function on my machine doesn't tell me anything about this E-file function.

Is the E-file option for W2 Forms compliant with MMREF format and can files with more than 500 W2's be submitted via this method? I'm assuming the e-file goes to SSA.

Does anybody know what actually happens when you submit W2's electronically through Quickbooks?
