Redoing our company file

I started in Quickbooks a couple of years ago. To be honest it has been quite a learning experience. Unfortunately, all that learning has made a lot of my quickbooks data inaccurate due to input erros etc. I need to start over and would like to copy over things like, the customer list, and items list. The rest I could input manually if I had too.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

In your current company file, export the list you want in the new company, like Customers, items vendors and maby accounts. Name the file Old-list.iif and save it to the desktop.
Create a new company with a same file name and add 2006 to the end of it to show it was started in 2006.
When that company file opens, import the list you exported (old-list.iif). You can then delete any of the list items that you donot want in the file.
