Adjustments for Cash Basis

I would like to suggest that there be an option when making an Adjusting Journal Entry that there be a check box to indicate if this adjustment is strictly for Cash Basis or Accrual Basis.

When running a QB report and going to customize and selecting cash basis it only changes based on what is entered in A/P and A/R. Sometimes we need to make adjustments and an indication if it is related to Cash or Accrual would help turn the cash basis report more accurate if in case on of the journal entries only related to cash basis.

I am surprised that QB does not have the option. We are always running cash basis reports for tax or other purposes and then we need to export to excel to continue the adjustments required.

QuickBooks does not contain two different sets data: one cash based, the other accrual. But QuickBooks does have multiple sets of data, some of which are not accessible or changeable with a general journal entry.

What makes a report a cash-based report or an accrual-based report depends upon which option you choose when printing the report.

Before one prints a report, one selects Customize Report, and then in the Report Basis one selects either Accrual or Cash. There is no need to export to Excel.
