Printing Checks and alignment

All,
I find it very difficult to allign the image on checks. I've used the allignment tab under 'print", but it's awkward and requires many tries. Is there a better way?

And after alligning, I can't get the allignment grid to NOT print on the checks. Gave up and hand wrote them. What turns this off?

And, of course, the help feature is a waste!
