Question Bartering

I have QB Premier. I made an invoice, customer paid a few payments, the remainder $1600.00 we traded for something (bartered). What account do I use and how do I do it? I checked with QB Help, the process is pretty lengthy and doesn't seem to fit.

Debit to accounts payable for balance due. Credit to whatever account best describes what was given in exchange to pay off the debt.

@ Debbie

You should create a dummy bank called barter
receive the payment against the invoice and deposit to the barter bank - that accounts for income

then you write a check on the barter bank and "buy" the expense or asset that you accepted as barter
