Intuit no longer supporting IIF imports

I had a support person from Intuit say that importing transactions into Quick Books through IIF files could corrupt your database and is no longer supported. Has anyone else heard this? I can't find any documentation or can't find it printed anywhere.

QBO does not accept iif files

desktop does, I use them all the time with no corruption
