Is Quickbooks for me?

I am part of a non-profit 501 (c) 19 veterans organization.

We currently do our accounting using an antiquated software that is primarily a checkbook program but also does business to some degree. It is time to dump that software and we are currently looking for a replacement.

Our income consists of:

Scholarship fund donations
membership dues
sales of military insignia, baseball caps, etc.
benevolence fund

Our expenses are:

normal office expenses
Scholarship grants
purchase of military insignia, baseball caps, etc.
gifts for benevolent reasons

Can quickbooks keep track of the Scholarship fund and benevolence fund monies even though it does not do fund accounting?

If so, how?

You can manage these tasks in QB, but you need to set it up correctly to adapt QB to your needs. Get a copy of Running QuickBooks in Nonprofits by Ivens, which is more or less the bible on this topic.
