Rebuild/Verify
Yes and it keeps it from happening again however it does not "fix" any that are already glitching. As far as I can tell the only way to fix it is to unapply the payment/credit and reapply it. I do believe you are correct about there being damage to the file and running rebuild on the file will stop it from happening for a time. However it will still occasionally occur again. I am unsure what causes damage to the file so I don't know how to prevent it.
