Credit card % allocation by account
When I enter a payment for my credit card the balance forward is always greater then the payment. I need to enter percentage wise the actual payment vs the account charges.
Example. Equipment 100.00 gas 50.00 parts 35.00 up to 14 categories including interest. Balance forward from last month of 500.00 from all categories Paid 75.00 How do I show a percentage of the payment to each category? |

It would be much easier and accurate if you entered all that specific info when the charge was made to the CC, not as you are doing when you pay it.

The Payment for the credit card is not and cannot be split to the purchases. When you make purchases on a credit card, the purchase is immediately applied to the expense account used on the credit card entry and then the credit card LOANS you the amount of the charge. The payment is paying off the CC loan.

Without attempting to ramble off any make up answer...they way you are reporting your credit card expense is on a cash basis. You are only recording the expense when you pay the bill. What you want to do is: Set up a credit card liablity account in your chart of accounts and record each card swipe (reciept) using the enter credit card charges screen. Then when you make a payment, apply it tp the credit card liability that you created. when you get your statement at the end of the month, reconcile it the same as you would your bank account in QB.
