Red face File folder labels

It would be nice to be able to print A/P labels for your file folders. I don't need addresses, just the vendor name & a phone number would be nice. Instead I have to type each one into a label format in Word. It seems like a lot of extra work. TIA for listening. Lisa

You might want to make the suggestion to Quickbooks. Use the Help menu and Feedback. They actually do listen to suggestions.

You can avoid having to type the Vendor names and phone numbers by using the Company/Write Letters function. Edit the existing letter "Fax to Vendor" - you will see the two fields you need: «NameOfCompany» and «Phone1». Delete all the other stuff and save it with an new name. You will have the name and phone number on one line. (Or you can create a new letter yourself, but Quickbooks sometimes has trouble communicating with MS Word, and the promised field list does not always appear.)

If you are very clever with formatting, you may even be able to create a merge that provides the labels you need.

Thanks, I went into the letter templates and I'm having the same problem with "system busy" that I had with exporting to Excel. When I finally got just the name & phone I can't get it formatted for my labels. It wants to print a page of the same vendor. Oh well.....thanks for trying.

I don't know much about this, but I know you can export a list to Excel. Perhaps you could do that and delete the info you don't want, then send it to Word for the labels.

If you can get the data into Word, you should be able to do a mailmerge to labels. Google "Word labels mailmerge" and you will get several step-by-step examples.

I just checked the 2008 QB and you can print file folder labels, name only.

Red face

Thanks everyone. I just ended up typing them in Word & printed the labels. Luckily I didn't have a lot. It's great that they finally added it to 2008 but we just upgraded to the 2007 - I know we won't be upgrading any time soon.
