How to reset the Statement period start date?

On Create Statement window.
Statement period is set FROM 7/1/11 TO 7/1/12

I can manually change FROM for each statement and then close the Crete Statement window.

When I open it again, the FROM date reverts to 7/1/11

I can't seem to find any option in Preferences to permanently change the FROM date, and this is becoming VERY time consuming changing it for each statement run.
