Hi,
I'm new to this forum but not to QB. Been using it since '95.
Just switched over to Mac and QB Mac 2012 and I'm starting to
regret it already. Hope I can get the thing tweeked to my liking
soon and get on with running my business.
I'm a sole proprietor
in a water filtration and plumbing service company so computers
not my forte.
Hope I can get the help I need here.

I've been using QB on a Mac since 1995. Just "upgraded" to 2012 fro 2009 it's been a complete disaster. I'm desperately looking for an alternative. Might go to QB Windows, never used Windows before. Go back now, seriously!

I am real new to this forum and real new to QB, sorta. . . The last version of QB I worked with was in 1996 for a small software development company. I am now helping my daughter with her new consulting company and was advised by two accountants I know to avoid the Mac version of QB. They most strongly recommended QB Pro for Windows since most accounting firms prefer it for their customers.

I bought a Mac last fall - my first since 1986 - and it is already better than any Windows machine I've ever had/worked with/managed. I emailed QB about the Mac version and asked if the files were Windows readable for my accountant. I was told you can save the files in Win format, send them to my accountant, and when I got them back, just convert them back to Mac. My past experience with file conversions is generally not good. Soon or later, files get corrupted, definitely not a good thing with accounting!

With that preamble intro out of the way, I decided to install Parallels 7, a virtual machine program for the Mac this past weekend, followed by Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. Everything seems to work fine, although a Windows desktop on my iMac feels almost perverted. You fellow Macnoids know what I mean! Today, I installed QB Pro 2012 and so far, everything works! I haven't loaded up a lot of data yet and I'll know more when I backfill about 3 months of spreadsheets.

With the newer Macs, you can use Bootcamp to create a Windows partition and install Win 7 (required with Lion/MountainLion) for a cleaner install, but you have to reboot to go back to the OSX partition. Since I use my Mac for everything else during the day, I took a $79 chance on Parallels 7, which makes it easy to flip in and out of Windows. This may be the alternative you need!

Ya see I'm on a Mac so I really can't say about Enterprise...........But on a Mac what you are asking for is impossible. Having said that, there are a few services on line that will work on your Win files for you, they promise exactly what you are looking for, but I have no track record with em.
