Question Quickbooks equation

Apologies first as I'm a newbie to the forum and the ultimate novice at quick books ...
I want to create an "item" for an invoice that has a unique calculation ... Can I Do This?

I want to calculate a percentage of a percentage.

say: 40% of 100 = 40 and then 10 percent of 40 = 4

Can I do that with one equation or do I have to do 2 steps?

Thanks in advance.

If this is a charge from new item select other charge enter your %, if the new item is a discount select the discount type and enter your %. Either way you will need two items.

Why cant you multiply the %'s together then apply the result to the total?

Then just multiply by 44%

Unless:-
Your taking $ 100 less 40% = $ 60
Then $60 less 10% =54

Then you can use 46%
