how to record sending replacement item

Hi all.

I posted an item to a customer, and it was lost in the post. I have sent out a replacement item. How can I record the replacement item as well as the cost(expense) of posting it?

I can reduce the inventory level of this item, but how can I associate the expense of the replacement item with the expense of posting it?

I was thinking of creating a sales receipt, putting $0 as the sale price, and a negative amount for the shipping and handling. Would this work?

Thanks in advance.

I would use a Sales Receipt with the replacement item with an amount of 0.00. For the shipping cost use a check/credit card charge posting to Shipping\ handling expense with the customer name on that line.
