Item type in item list

1) Once an item is established can the item type be edited?

2) Can a new item type (not on pull down menu) be added?

A service item cannot be altered.
An Inventory item cannot be altered.
You can alter a Non Inventory item and an Other Charge item, but if you make them an Inventory Item or Service item it cannot be reversed.

You cannot create your own item type.
