Calculator comes up 0.00| ?

When I press the = key, the calculator always comes up 0.00| so I have to back space to clear it before I can use it. Is this a problem anyone has seen? If so, any solutions?

This isn't really a problem. When you hit equals, you are asking Quickbooks to finish the calculation. It is finished it's calculation and the result is 0.00. To use the calculator, you don't have to enter in = first. Just type in the calculation in the box. When you type in the first operator, the calculator box will appear. For example, type in 150*0.60. When you type in the *, the calculator box will appear and you can type in = or press enter when finished the calculation.
