Up until July 2003 a client would E-mail their QB Pro 2002 back up to me monthly and I would be able to use it to review reports. When they sent the August back up I opened it to find only July data. Again when opening Sept. & now Oct. I am receiving data only through July. For the Sept. period I picked up a CD from them and was able to use it. Is there a backup failure issue or another issue? Please advise.

Sounds like they were emailing you the wrong file. Especially if you were able to get the correct one on CD.

Is it possible that you still have the July backup on your hard drive and that that is the one you are restoring instead of the most recently emailed backup.
Or, as Dave suggested, they are sending the wrong one.
One way to be sure it's not on your side is to download their file to your desktop and Restore the file from there. Once it's restored, drag the .QBB file to the Recycle Bin and get rid of it. Then you don't accidentally Restore it again. Next month, go in and rename the restored file companynameOLD.QBW before you download the new file they send. Then you know which one is which when you restore the new one this month.
If they are sending you the wrong file, you'll know right away.

I have taken and deleted both the old qbb and the old qbw and then re-downloaded the file from the E-mail. This still results in the old time frame. Since this client has been sending me the monthly back up for over a year I doubt their sending me the wrong qbb file. Any ohter thoughts?
I agree also. I think the client is sending you the wrong file. Especially since you were able to go there and retrieve the correct one. Believe me, I've had clients do things many times that they never did before.
