Can anyone point me in the direction of a site where I might be able to find out whether I am paying to much in bank and credit card processing charges

Apparently little known site: www.blays.co.uk, mine of useful info on banks, credit cards, loans etc.

For credit card merchant services I plugged "credit card merchant" into Google, UK sites only. It found 16,400 sites in 0.18 seconds! I think this is what people mean by information overload!

And have a look at the wonderfully named www.leakingbucket.co.uk

Thanks will check them out.

It always seems a bit vague as to how banks come up with their charges I realise they need them but they don't seem to open about it.

I bank quite a bit of cash which they don't seem to like to much and am charged a rate of 55p per £100.

Local branches of banks would like you to believe they have no flexibility, but it isn't true. Find a bank you like and just ask them if you could do a deal on your cash charges. Make it sound like a 'make or break' issue, and they may cut the charge to get a customer.

If you bank cash use the alliance and leicester (Post Office) as they let you bank cash for FREE. Then transfer the money to your main business account. I am a member of the British Shops and Stores association which has negotiated a good deal with HSBC for banking. I pay very little in Bank charges.
