Do I have to structure my account numbers as follows and then run P&L's by ranges of account numbers?

10001000 Revenue Corporate Branch
20001000 Revenue Los Angeles Branch

10005000 G&A Expense Corporate Branch
20005000 G&A Expense Los Angeles Branch

Of course this is simplified, but hopefully you'll get my drift. For example, if I want a P&L for the Corporate Branch, can I run one for a range of account numbers beginning with a "1"???

You should not use complicated and extremely long account numbers. It is ludicrous to use more than four or five digits for account numbers in this program. It's not necessary. If you are running QB PRO version, you can use "CLASS" to discriminate between corporate and Los Angeles.
This will be much simpler. I am using it for three different divisions.
You can generate P & Ls by Class and see one statement with three or more columns depending on how many classes you use. Then you have one set of account numbers and well over 100 classes if you like.
Read the manual on Classes and go for it.

I forgot...You can also generate a P&L and filter out only Corporate transactions or Los Angeles transactions. This gives you a P&L for only one class when you need it.
Good Luck!!!
