We recently upgraded QB for Mac 2009 to 2012. The write checks screen will not open and the bank register will not open a check. Any suggestions why this would be happening - talked to support they have no clue

I have only seen a few reports regarding this, first confirm you are on the latest release, quickbooks>about quickbooks, then quickbooks>check for updates. The most recent is R9.

Thank you for the information but the updates are all current. Any other options?

Try from one of the sample company files, if you get the same results the problem is the application, if it works as expected the problem is your company file. You may have some list damage, with the chart of accounts open select edit>resort list, resort the names list as well, from write checks enter command+L in the pay to field, this brings up the names list, select edit>resort list. Also run file>utilities>verify data and rebuild data. Post back with your results.

QuickBooks for Mac is kind of a disaster... See my post in the "QuickBooks for Mac in the cloud" thread.. I honestly think the answer is to switch to QuickBooks hosting for all Mac users.

Anyway probably doesn't help after you've made the big initial investment, but boy... wait til you have to send your company files to an accountant or receive a PC client's files..!
