Just installed new 2012 QB Premier and am unable to email invoices. It says that I have to close Thunderbird first. When I close Thunderbird, it re-opens it and displays the same message. ?? What am I missing?

It sounds like there is some interface issue between QuickBooks and Mozilla Thunderbird. Can you launch IE8 or 9 and see if email will work then.

Internet Explorer....I don't have that. We use Mozilla. do I have to have Internet Expolorer for QB to work online?

I am not sure, but QB use to use the IE interface to connect with email.
How did you remove IE from your PC?

I suppose it's still there, I just don't use it. I guess I'm just stubborn that if QB says it can work with Mozilla, it should work. Why would they lie? I used to create a pdf, save it and then email it. I may just go back to that. It's not the first time I've been disappointed with Intuit.

To get quickbooks to talk to thunderbird ...

install Thunderbird (I have it working with TB 14.0)
got to Start -> control panel -> default programs
set thunderbird as your default mail client
open regedit
go to HKLM/software/clients/mail
edit "default" and set it to "Mozilla Thunderbird"
reboot

voila ..

only issue I have is that quickbooks still fails to name the attached invoices correctly, it is called moz_mapi ... to fix simply click on the poorly named invoice and rename to "invoice-xyz.pdf" before sending. dodgy workaround i know but the best I have found so far.

Cheers
