Slow to open

Since upgrading to 2001, I find it takes an age to open after clicking on the icon, whereas with version 5 it was virtually instant. Any ideas?

Your problem may stem from the same issue I am dealing with. If you are using windows 2000, quickbook starts a process called qbagent when quickbook starts. Qbagent runs for about 30 seconds before it allows the main quickbooks program run.

You can see what is holding up quickbooks by starting the task manager (pressing ctrl-alt-del) and looking at the second tab (processes). If you click on the cpu column heading it will sort the processes by the cpu usage and you might see the qbagent process at the top.

If you watch the process for awhile and you see the cpu usage for qbagent fall, quickbooks will start. I have watched the process run when I open and close quickbooks. I haven't found a workaround yet so it is just part of the product.
