I am in the healthcare industry and have been using QB Pro 2000 for some time now and massaging it to fit my needs. After buying Medisoft, a medical billing system, and being overwhelmed by it's complexity and lack of compatibility with QB, which I continue to use for A/P, I am considering going back to QB with the EZ Claim add-on (would have done this before if I had known EZ integrated with new versions of QB, which it doesn't in 2000). From my review of the QB website it looks like the only differences between this Healthcare edition and the 2003 Pro is in the nomenclature and in some insignificant reports, most of which can be custom designed anyway in QB. And this comes at more than double the price (multi user). Am I missing something or can someone tell me why the Premier Healthcare edition is worth the price?
Also, the only thing QB is missing to make it a real god-send for my business is a HCFA billing form. Can anyone figure out why QB would not include this one form and make my life immeasurably easier? (I'm trying not to take this personally).

If 2000 Pro has the features you need then you would probably be fine in Pro 2004. The Healthcare Edition does have some fancy reports, but like you said if you are fairly good at creating reports then you can duplicate them yourself. There usually are some other differences but most can be recreated with a savvy user. I just looked at quickbooks.com and couldnt find the healthcare edition, maybe it hasnt been released in the 2004 yet, or was discontinued. If you look at regular premiere and it has some features you need then you could upgrade to that, but it is the same price as the healthcare edition.

Yes healthcare is available in 2004. In my opinion, the different vertical market versions are good if you might not have a real heavily trained accountant on staff. It gives more practical terminology specific to that industry. Like in the healthcare, it has a healthcare navigator menu/screen and has a listing for patients (customers), and instead of an item list calls it Procedures & Services, stuff like that. They are very minor differences, but if you are going for Premier anyways, why not spend the same money and get some terminology particular to your industry if they have a version for it? If you don't need premier, then you can customize your reporting and other things can be customized by a savvy qb user.
