I have budget in excel and want to import budget to QB Pro 2000. I used help function without success. I called QB service and they do not support importing information from other programs.

I tried exporting QB budget to check format and the chart of accounts to see file structure.

Has anyone successfully done this? It seems like it should be easy to do.

Thanks

I have the same situation (want to import my budget data from Excel to QB Pro 99). Like you said the help menu wasn't helpful.

We're a lil' late in the year getting the budget entered (I work at a small organization). I see that you've posted back in January - have you had an success in the meantime?

Thanks

I finally gave up and just entered it. we are a small company so they entry wasn't too bad. It was frustrating for me to have to take information from a file/paper and key it in. Also the fact that QB reply was that they do not support this function of the product.

Thanks:

Sounds like that is exactly what I'm going to have to do as well. How frustrating that QBooks won't come to our rescue.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

In your QuickBooks file, enter a few budgets. Then export the Budgets as an IIF file. This will give you the format you need to use to get the data back. Open in Ecxel.

In Excel you use the columns as set out in the exported file. Enter your data.

You need to use the two lines from the exported file, with your data underneath. Save as a Tab Delimited file.

Set up a Test file and try to import it. When it is right, import it into your real file. It takes a while to understand IIF file formats, but it can be very rewarding.
