Hi

I am a UK user of Quickbooks and find it a real pain to have to hand write P45's at the end of each winter season for my 24 employees who are on short term contracts.

Does anybody know of an add-on to Quickbooks where P45s can printed directly off the computer.

Regards

Purple Ski.

What version of QB are you using - 2002 and 2003 both print p45's see Employees>P45 for leavers......

You need the laser landscape P45 sheets from the Inland Revenue, beware though there is no print preview feature in either version. But they can be printed as many times as you like!

I am using 2001 Pro. Looks like I may have to upgrade but I need three copies so will be expensive. Will have to see if it is worth. Do you thing it is?

2003 is better than 2001 but each person has to make his own decision based on their own requirements. In theory you could hold on for another year until Intuit stop supporting 2001 then upgrade to 2004! But that wouldn't get your P45's printed!

You're probably aware that 2003 has just been released you should have had a mailing by now if not check www.quickbooks.co.uk.

The hassle with 3 users is the pricing according to the prices 2 users cost 499.95 and a single user is £299.95 a total of £800 of which you should get a £100 rebate as an upgrader, so £700. A five user system would cost £799 after the rebate.

Maybe you should look around the net for alternative prices.

If it's just for printing P45's just find an adviser/accountant with payroll subscription and 2003, send him your file, he could print the P45's off and send them to you! That's the cheapest alternative, though I'm not sure Intuit would approve!

The ball's back in your court!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but here is an extract (typos and grammatical errors are theirs, not mine) from an email I received recently as a QB Advisor:

"Re-subscription to the QuickBooks Payroll Service will now only be available to customers with the latest version of QuickBooks: currently QuickBooks 2003. Our research has show that the vast majority of our payroll customers upgrade year on year an we are therefore concentrating our development time upon the latest version to the benefit of the largest section of our customers. Supporting only the latest version of QuickBooks Payroll will allow Intuit to spend more time enhancing payroll and accounting features in QuickBooks."

Looks like Intuit have made the decision for you.
