View Full Version : Delete a deposited payment

When you have inputed sometime incorrect and have already made a deposit of the funds, how do you delete a payment from the deposit?
I have changed the invoice to the correct amount and am now trying to edit the customer payment, but the warning says to delete the payment from the deposit before I can edit the amount.

First do a backup just in case there is a problem!!!
Edit the deposit and click on the payment you want to delete and do a Ctrl-Delete to delete just that line. Do not close the Make Deposit, but goto the Receive Payment (use Find to locate it) and make the change and then Save and Close the payment. On the deposit click the menu button for Payments and check the edited payment to include it back on the deposit. Save and close.
Why do you need to change the payment? Never enter a payment that is different than what the customer pays!

Thanks! I am new to quickbooks and am trying to tackle all the ins and outs. My lack of knowledge yielded a redo of our whole year and therefore I had to create a new company and input everything correctly.
