HI, I'm Using quickbooks Pro 2002. I want to integrate a web shopping cart system that we have develped so that it will automatically create clients, create payment, create Sales Orders and Purchase orders. Effectively automatiing what we currently have to do manually. I don't really want to go through the create a file, then Import it etc. as this takes manual effort, though if I have to I guess I will.

Is there a way of talking to the QB database directly? I notice that the American and Australian versions have SDK's free in the US and $3000 p.a. in Australia I understand. Anyone know?

The UK QuickBooks 2002 does not have any ability to use any SDK. The 2003 version is based on the 2002 US version and is xml-based. This gives it the ability to use the qbxml SDK - if it is made available in the UK. Each country has to modify the programme and the SDK to suit their particular needs. You will need to check with Intuit as to if and when an SDK will be available for the UK and at what cost. Remember that having the SDK is not the end of your trouble, it is the beginning. The curve is steep. You not only need to understand the SDK, but also have an extensive knowledge of QuickBooks and how it needs data supplied to it. There will also be the need to synchronise the on-line data with the QuickBooks data.
The 2002 version will only be able to use IIF files to export lists and to import transactions. While it is a pain, it is certainly a lot better than typing the info in manually. And until the UK SDK is available, that will be your only option.
