One of the most important things we use QuickBooks for is inventory control. in version 5 when a inventory item came up on the reminders that needed to be reordered it was sorted by vendor and then had the items listed. with 2001 it's just a bunch of numbers, the first one might be from ABC company and the next from XYZ how in the hell are you suppose to use something like this? I have 320 items I need to reorder do the people at QuickBooks think I should sit here and type every number in to see if it is from the company I am ready to order from?
when I "upgraded" I had actually hoped that someone at QuickBooks had been smart enough to figure out a way to open a PO and populate that PO with items that need to be reordered from that company. As it is right now I guess I'm looking at having to go back to 5.0.
Am I wrong? have I missed something? is there a way to sort this list by vendor?

In later versions on QB it is best to use the reminderst as just that. Reports are where you are going to find detailed info.
try physical inventory worksheet or Inventory status by vendor ..........or better yet once your reminder pops up. I would set up a custom memorized invoice filtered for info I wanted.
Hope this helps a bit.

What you suggested will break it down by vendor but it still does not resolve the problem of being able to get a quick list of what needs to be ordered. The reminders is just that, a reminder. It is as useful as an alarm clock.
As a minimum, the reports should have a sort feature that will show a break down of the vendor and list ONLY the parts that need to be ordered. I have 500+ parts in my list and I have to look through the list to see what needs to get ordered. Not what I was expecting when I bought this software.
The feature should also have the ability to create POs based on what needs to get ordered and not have to manually enter the part numbers I want to order.

It's totally useless like it is, there is no reason for it to even pull the info into the reminders because you can't do anything with it. I guess it would work if you only had one supplier but what kind of pathetic company has only one supplier?
When I upgraded I had also hoped that they would have used their gray matter and had added a feature when you could just populate a PO with the info from the reminders of items to be reordered.
The whole reason for software is to make our lives easier, the way QuickBooks handles Inventory now it makes taking care of inventory more costly because I find I have to print the reports for them to be of any use.
With the old version I was using I always had good stock on my inventory, after upgrading to 2001 I find I am always running out of stuff because it's such a chore to use.
We will be slowing down in May or June and I plan on checking out Peachtree and a few others, someone out there has to understand that inventory in vital to the management of a company. QuickBooks clearly doesn't care..........
