We just upgraded from QB6 single-user to QBPro 2001 5-User. All systems are at QBPro R5, all are networked and share a 24x7 DSL internet connection that functions properly from each system. We have set Automatic Sharing and Automatic Updates ON for each system. And we have double-checked that all systems point to the same network address for storing/retrieving updates (a companion folder created by QBPro to store updates near the shared datafile network location).

The problem is with the one system that held our earlier QB5 and QB6 installations (the others are newly-installed as we just went to 5-User). When we click on "Get Updates" on that system, it attempts to make a connection and then (within 5 seconds or so) pops up a message that it "Cannot find the phonebook entry for TIAC. Please reconfigure the dialer".

TIAC is an obsolete Dial Up Networking reference from when our systems did individual dialups for internet connections... probably 3 or more years ago. The system does not even have a DUN connection for TIAC anymore. Nor do we want any dialup... we have 24x7 internet access thru the network & DSL.

So I assume this is some residual item from QB5 or QB6 on this machine.

I have searched Registry and QB INI files for references to TIAC with no success. Nor have I found anything in any Preferences-like area. How can I get this system to automatically get and network-share updates like the other systems?

PS: This was the only machine that also installed IE 5.5 when QBPro 2001 was installed... the others already had IE 5.5. Perhaps that is a clue??

Thanks

Sounds like windows NT....try this with QB open click help in uppper right and go to internet connection setup and see confrim your settings.

Also may want to go to control panel internet options ..........click connections and see if andy dial ups still are ghosted here.
