In case anyone runs into this same problem i thought id better document it as i couldnt find a record of it anywhere on the net :)
I ran into problems installing Quickbooks Enterprise 09/10 on a 2003 terminal server. The installation worked fine but when opening it for the first time it prompted me to select a 'flavour' or 'industry-specific version'. It kept prompting me each time i tried to open quickbooks and never actually opened quickbooks. After countless hours and phone calls to Quickbooks they finally helped me - apparently this problem sometimes occurs on terminal services. To fix, open up Regedit and browse to HKLM/Software/Inuit/QuickbooksRegistration/18.0/BEL. There should be an entry called 'ACTIVATEDPRODUCT'. Set the value to 'BEL' (without quotes) - this sets the flavour to 'general business edition'. If you require a different flavour you will need to change the value to something else (sorry i dont have a list of them).
Also, one gotcha.. the installation steps (Quickbooks FAQ ID #9789) say that you need to install using D:\QBooks\Setup.exe. This doesnt actually work - you need to install using D:\Setup.exe
