Being relatively new to QuickBooks, I've come across something that I don't know how to address. There are 2 memo fields in QuickBooks Pro 2001. One appears just below the blue area of the "bill" and one appears in the area that contains the "stub", with the account, amount, etc. information.

We've been using the memo field in that lower detail area to record what the payment is for, and have not used the memo just below the face of the bill in the blue area.

Now, when I am trying to generate a report that shows what we paid a particular vendor for, the data in the memo field we've been using doesn't show up. I tried to modify the report, but there is only one memo field from which to choose, and that is the memo field below the blue area of the bill.

Instead of editing all of our bills we've put in to date, how can I modify the report to choose the "correct" memo field?

Any help you can give would be appreciated!

Each split line of a transaction has a Memo, including the 'source' line, which is sometimes the only line that appears in reports of transactions.
To see a memo relating to an entire transactions, use the memo that appears on the 'top' of the transaction form, not in the split detail area.

I'm having the same problem but for invoicing instead of bills.
We've been using the memo feild under the INVOICE for additional information we need. Like you, I tried to get the info to show on a report but it will only show the detail for the item.
The info shows on quickreports for individual customers but I can't get it to show itself on any other reports (ie-sales reports). It's frustrating because I know the info is there!
Any ideas?
