Program & Payroll Updates for 2002

I just upgraded to QB2002 under Windows XP. My 2001 worked just fine, but now I can't udpate my payroll or program with the automatic update feature. It goes through the motions, then says the operation did not complete successfully (Error 15218). It says to call Quickbooks, but as I'm sure you all know, they won't talk to you unless you promise your first born child! Anybody else run into this?

XP does not contain virtual machine (JAVA) which QuickBooks needs to operate properly. If you have allready installed QB on xp what you will need to do is download VM from Microsoft:

If you still receive errors after this especially error trying to get updates. Click Start then go to run type in reboot.bat and hit enter this will re-register all QB components.

If that still does not solve your situation simply install QB again over top or your previous version do not uninstall first.
