Hi
we have just upgraded to 2008-09 Premier (from 2007-08 same). An industry application generates an IIF file of transactions that need to be imported - they relate to invoices to be applied to customer accounts. This import process now fails with the error message
"The taxable setting in the tax code GST has been changed. This file cannot be imported."

Checking the IIF (which has not changed) the GST amount is still 10.0% and I really cannot see any difference, so it must be in the way the tax codes are now read/interpreted/applied.

Earlier posts on other sites refer to the use of taxoz.iif in the main program folder. This made no difference.

Could it be as simple as 10.00 vs 10.0? Really stumped..

Rather than the tax RATE, is there any chance this has to do with another GST setting for Invoices, eg. whether GST is included in the price or listed separately? Maybe try importing to a test company trying different settings?

I think you will find that Tax Code in relation to GST or VAT is not supported in IIF files when importing into QuickBooks 2008-09 (Australian, Canadian or UK editions) or later versions.

You should confirm with the makers of QuickBooks. They have provided an SDK which allow third party applications to import transactions and that supports tax codes however you really need developer skills to use that. We have written a utility (http://www.zed-systems.com/products/axis.aspx) that uses the SDK to import data from text files or spreadsheets into QuickBooks. There is a 30 day free trial if you want to test it out.
