Multiple donors per check

I have a check for $100 but this check includes 4 donors. Normally if X wrote the check, then X's info would be entered with the proper check #, date and amount. This time X only accounts for one quarter of this check and the other 3 donations were given as cash to that person. How do I record or track all four donors without and maintain accurate donation records? Right now, the check is entered as if it came from X for $100 and the 3 other people each gave $25 in cash. When you run the report, it will show that $175 was donated and not $100. We don;t want to misrepresent the amount indicated on the check for fear of accounting nightmare. Help!

You could record each $25. in the deposit and make a note in the memo area that this is 1/4 of the check. The total of the deposit will be $100. which is correct.

For each donor, open a sales receipts window and enter $25.00 - use the same check number in the Check No field for each transaction. You can enter text (e.g. chk received from smith) in the memo field as a memory jogger.
