Hello all,
I'm trying to create a report that will show me the A/R but a) only with customers who have a balance, and b) only customers who are 30 days arrears.
I've tried using the Customer Detailed Balance report and the Customer Transaction report, but each will only show me an entire list of customers.
Thanks much,
Starkman

First run the Aging Summary report. Click Modify and change the "Age through how many days" to 30. after clicking OK, zoom on the total for >30.
This will list, by customers, the open invoices and the total amounts for each customer.

Thanks, Joe, but this isn't quite what I need - I wasn't clear at all about what I need. Sorry about that.
I need a report, like a Customer Balance Detail, that will show ONLY customers with a balance. I can't get this report, however, to do this. I have to see all the activity for my customers (invoices and payments), so I can't use just an aging report. I just don't need to see everybody and their brother, only customers with a balance. (Why, why did QB make this so hard? How come they didn't know that I don't need to see Larry, Curly and Moe with zero balances? OF COURSE they don't have balances; they've been dead now for how many years?!!)
Of course it's probably some simple thing I'm missing, and I'm the idiot. What's new, though. I just need the report!
Thanks,
Starkman

Hi,
Run a customer Balance Detail Report.
Click on the modify report button at the top of the report screen
click on the filter tab at the top of the modify report screen
scroll down to Aging in the "choose filter" screen. Set it to be > = 0 (greater then zero)
scroll down to Due Date and set it to the date you want (30 days ago)
click ok
Hope this helps. If not we'll figure it out. Good luck

If you use the Customer Balance Summary and on the Modify screen, click the Advanced buttom and set Non-zero for both the Columns to display and Rows to display, you will get a report with JUST customers with open balances.
You can then zoom on the customer's balance or the reports Total to get the detail report of their activity. By clicking the Paid in Columns to Display the Paid or Unpaid will show for each transaction.

Well, Joe, I've tried everything you've suggested and I can't get the balances for only anything greater than zero to show
The Customer Summary Balance doesn't work, because I need to see all the information (both activity and balances) at the same time. What way I can see everything for a customer when I'm talking with them over the phone. I'm collecting, you see. Must have all info at the finger tips!
That really is strange, too, because you would think it would be easy to have a report like the Customer Balance Detail to NOT show customers with zero balances. Strange indeed.
Well, we'll keep at it. If you've got more ideas, my friend, throw them at me!
Thanks,
Starkman

Have you tried the Collections Report?

Have you tried the Collections Report?
Well, Suzanne, it seems this report presents the same problem: shows everyone and their brother (zero balances and all) but not just people with outstanding balances.
Thanks,
Starkman (otherwise known, at this time, as Stuckman)

I don't understand why. I pull the report and all it shows are customers with balances. That would be the point to a collections report.

Like I said I can't see how the report would show zero balances. I didn't mention that there is a box at the top or the report to enter the number of days late, or older you want to show. Try going to Modify then filters. Filter on amount and put in "is equal to or greater than $1.00" (=>)
