Hi

I have been using MYOB Premier v7 even though I had worked on Quickbooks for the past 3 years.

I must say that MYOB does a really good job at performing accounting tasks.

THough i dont use the Payroll, Time Billing and Taxes part.

MYOB is a lot more simpler than Quickbooks.

What are your thoughts on MYOB ?

We work with integration to both QuickBooks and MYOB - about 90% currently to MYOB in Australia, but about to release an integration to QuickBooks in the US. I personally use and prefer QuickBooks, but have come to appreciate and respect MYOB as a very capable accounting program. There are certain areas where it runs rings around Quickbooks, but it does have a 'clunky' interface. It requires more of an accounting understanding than QuickBooks, but once mastered, users swear by it.There are over 350,000 users in Australia and it outsells QuickBooks here. My opinion would be that if QuickBooks does not do what you want, certainly consider MYOB. There will be a bit of adjusting if you are used to QuickBooks, but ultimately it will do an excellant job.

Many of my clients use MYOB. They like it. I support their networks. MYOB rather stable and MYOB support's in Melboune, Australia is much better than QB. More DIY books on MYOB avalable than for QB.

Some aspects of MYOB I do not like.
1. For every new financial year a new MYOB company file is created. In QB I can have the same file for many financial years (with periodic backups of course). So after changing last years file in MYOB, The opening balance in the current year file must be updated. In QB, you just rerun the P/L and Balance sheet of the last period.
2. e.g No credit memos in MYOB. Have to use negative signs in invoices etc.
3. MYOB License based on per Company. We can use QB for many companies.
4. In QB data entry and editing are done in same form. In MYOB adding a transaction record must be done first. Editing mode is different from adding mode.
