Customer name vs. Company name

I have a client using Enterprise that decided to use a number for their Customer Name instead of the actual name. (They did this to facilitate importing sales from their inventory package.)

When they run reports, they want to see the "Company" Name. This isn't an item available to be checked in the columns when modifying reports. Anyone have a work around or fix?

I would use the Name and create a custome field for the number..then you can see both on reports or delete the column you dont want. Its always a good idea to record all the info you can, you never know when you might need it.

You could also add the company name is the address field - say Address Field 1 - that would show up on the reports, as it's available on most reports on filter tab.

Is it advisable to use Account Number for the Customer number & Name for Customer Name. Wil both fields be available on invoices & reports?
